Crimson Blade History

-=- The House of the Crimson Blade -=-

The House of the Crimson Blade lives and breathes by the ancient code of Bushidō—the Way of the Warrior. To a samurai, honor is everything. This sacred code, passed down through centuries, serves as a moral compass that governs every thought, action, and decision of those who carry the blade.

The Bushidō Code: The Way of the Warrior

Bushidō is not simply a philosophy—it is the soul of the samurai. The word bushi means “warrior,” and dō means “the way,” forming a path of discipline, loyalty, and self-sacrifice. Originating in the age when samurai were masters of the bow and the horse, the code was once called kyūba no michi—“the way of the horse and bow.”

A samurai’s first duty was unwavering loyalty to their lord, or daimyō. In the feudal lands of the East, loyalty formed the bedrock of society. Lords offered protection, sustenance, and honor—while their retainers were expected to obey without hesitation. Disloyalty could fracture entire provinces, while devotion could hold an empire together.

The Bushidō code also demanded vengeance when honor was stolen. If a samurai’s lord were disgraced or slain, it was the warrior’s solemn duty to hunt down those responsible—even at the cost of their own life. Death with honor was far greater than a life of shame.

-=- History of the Crimson Blade -=-

In a distant land known as the Land of the Rising Sun, a fragile peace was carved from the ashes of civil war. Power was divided among House Emperors, each controlling vital resources, land, food, and gold. Trade between them maintained stability, but beneath the surface, tension always lingered.

The ruling House Emperor Zhang ensured peace through the might of his elite warriors, men and women of every race and background, trained in the old ways. They were known as Samurai, and among them, none were more feared or honored than those of the Crimson Blade.

But peace is a fleeting illusion.

In a tragic betrayal, the Emperor’s own son, driven by ambition and greed, attempted to overthrow him. Knowing civil war could erupt once more, Emperor Zhang dispatched loyal warriors of the Crimson Blade to far-off lands, hoping to expand their reach and secure powerful allies before open conflict returned. Then came the day that shattered everything.

The Emerald Vipers, a ruthless army loyal to the Emperor’s son, discovered the Crimson Blade’s hidden stronghold. In a swift and brutal assault, they assassinated Emperor Zhang and scattered the Crimson Blade across the continent. Now, only a handful of warriors remain, hiding underground or waging a secret war against the Emerald Vipers from within the shadows. But the danger grows greater still. The new self-proclaimed Emperor has learned of a new land, a place the remaining Crimson Blades now call home. Enraged by their survival, he has dispatched soldiers of the Emerald Vipers to Baldur’s Gate, hoping to crush the Crimson Blade once and for all.

Now the exiled warriors of the Crimson Blade must rise once more.

  • Their honor demands it.

  • Their blood remembers it.

  • And the Way of the Warrior will be their guide.
